For your convenience, the Whistler Physiotherapy Group has two locations in Whistler and one in the Garibaldi Highlands area of Squamish.

» Do I need an appointment?

It is recommended that you make an appointment for Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and IMS. Although we do accept walk-ins, it is not always possible that you will be seen immediately. Our goal is to accommodate people within the same day.

» Do I need a doctor’s referral (prescription)?
Whistler Physiotherapy Group does not require a doctor’s referral for treatment. Physiotherapist in British Columbia are direct access practioners. We work closely with the medical doctors to provide quality services. Some extended medical insurances require a referral in order for a patient to claim their Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy expenses. Usually a Doctor’s referral is also required for custom-made orthotics, splints, and braces in order to receive insurance reimbursement. Please contact your human resource personnel to find out what your policy covers and requires.

» What third party groups are you able to bill directly?
All Whistler Physiotherapy clinics are able to direct bill the following insurers for pre-approved calims:

  • WorkSafe BC (WCB)
  • Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)
  • Most Overseas Travel Insurance Companies
  • Department of Veteran Affairs
  • RCMP

Please contact each clinic directly for the specific requirements of each group.
A Doctor's referral is required for most third party billings.

» Are you able to bill directly to my extended medical plan?
Whistler Physiotherapy Group is not able to bill directly to extended medial plans within Canada or the USA. All services provided must be paid for at the time of treatment. You may then submit to your extended medical company for reimbursement. Our reception staff would be pleased to provide you with the necessary documentation.

» Does BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) cover my Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy treatments?
MSP does not cover any Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy treatments unless you qualify for Premium Assistance.

» What is BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) Premium Assistance?
Premium Assistance is offered to holders of  BC Medical Services Plan. To obtain partial coverage for your Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy treatments, you are required to have Premium Assistance.  Premium Assistance states that your adjusted net year income is less than $28,000.  Eligibility for premium assistance is based upon your tax return.

Premium Assistance with BC Medical allows you to have 10 subsidized treatments per year.  This coverage is in combination for Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Chiropractic, non-surgical Podiatry, Acupuncture, and Naturopathy.  The annual coverage begins January 1st and ends December 31st.
